Welcome to the Total Body Massage
start page. Total Body Massage is what we call the massage system we
use. We now bring you the disclaimer: The
information provided here is just that - information. This page, and
all associated pages should in no way be construed as a solicitation of
business. We do not provide any massage services to the public for
any price. We do not answer emails asking for services, so don't
send any. If you are a massage professional and would like to
discuss the ideas contained in these pages, please contact us using the
form below. Some of the massage techniques, methods, and theories here may
be controversial, and in some cases may not be legal in your specific
state or municipality. For instance, in the State of Louisiana,
gluteial cleavage must be draped at all times. Our massage system uses long body and
full body movements that preclude the use of a drape - hence the technique
is technically illegal in a clinical setting. The information provided here is for
informational purposes only, and this information should not be construed
as instruction or encouragement to perform or receive any massage.
Now that we have covered the
disclaimer, what is Total Body Massage? Total Body Massage is a
massage system primarily based in Chinese An Mo. An Mo means simply,
'press rub'. Any response you have to this material may be typed in
the box at the bottom of any page. Please include your email if you
expect a response. I realize that some of this information may be
controversial for some clinical massage practitioners. Like other
information on this site, you are encouraged to read what you like and
ignore what you do not. You can follow the links under TBM MENU to
the left to read all the information. Alternatively, you can follow
the button menus at the top and bottom of each section. You are encouraged to do so
now, or you can continue by reading the rant below.
THE RANT:
To be honest, I think that most
'modern' massage technique is a sad farce. While there are some that
will disagree with me, no real massage can be given in an hour. We
are a society that lives - and often dies - by the clock. Rather
than tell a client, "Your session will last one hour.", I always
say, "Your session will last until you are done." I do not
practice in a clinical setting - and I wonder if a real massage
can be done in an hour. Yes, the client will have a benefit - and
an hour is better than nothing - but to my mind saying that you are going
to limit the massage to sixty minutes is sort of like saying you are going
to limit your shower to sixty seconds. You can get clean in sixty
seconds - but how clean can you really get? How many of you massage
professionals out there agree with me? I'd like to hear from you.
