SCENE III - PRAYER & DECLARATION OF INTENT

ED:  “We will now hear the prayer of the sounds.”

The sounds speak.

PAUL:  “I give you the sound of the conch.”  <PAUL SOUNDS CONCH>

BOB:  “I give you the sound of the bowl.”  <BOB SOUNDS BOWL>

FRANK:  “I give you the sound of the drum.”  <FRANK SOUNDS DRUM>

MAGGIE:  “I give you the sound of the ting shaw.”  <MAGGIE SOUNDS TING SHAW>

KATHY:  “I give you the sound of the bell.”  <KATHY SOUNDS BELL>

<ALL SOUNDS SOUND SIMULTANEOUSLY.  SOUNDS ARE THEN PLACED ON THE TABLE AND EACH PERSON TAKES THEIR PLACE. >  

ED:  From the combination of these elements and sounds the world was formed.  John 1:1 says, “in the beginning the word was and the word was with God.”  The scripture goes on to explain that all things came into existence through this word.  So you see, we are all expressions of the word, just as the five elements and five sacred sounds are expressions of the word.  Mohammed said, “All mankind is one family, one people.”  Today we have come together as individual expressions of the word, and as a family of friends to witness the public declaration of Shane & Andrea’s marriage.  Will you give your support with an expression of love?”

<ED SOUNDS BELL #1> <AUDIENCE RINGS BELLS>

ED:  “Shane & Andrea, I charge you now to consider in all seriousness the oath you are about to take and to declare now any reason that you should not be married today.”  

SHANE & ANDREA: “There are no constraints upon us, and we are in no need of liberation.”

<ED SOUNDS BELLS 1 & 2> <AUDIENCE RINGS BELLS>

ED: (To Andrea) “Free woman, be free as the moon is freed from the eclipse of the sun.  With a free mind, in no debt, enjoy what has been given to you.  Andrea, will you have this man to be your husband, forsaking all others, to work with him in honor and love for the benefit of all beings?  Will you care for him, teach him & learn from him, keep his promises, and be his joy until the end of your days?”

ANDREA: “I have and I will.”

ED: (To Shane)  “Free man, be free as the sun is free in a cloudless sky.  With a free mind, in no debt, enjoy what has been given to you.  Shane, will you have this woman to be your wife, forsaking all others, to work with her in honor and love for the benefit of all beings?  Will you care for her, teach her & learn from her, keep her promises, be her joy, and protect her until the end of your days?”  

SHANE: “I have and I will.”
